Norfolk artist Claire Cansick is fascinated by nature, colour and the female form. There are two sides to her work: the landscape and the figure. In both, she often experiments with perspective.Her landscapes explore the huge skies and flat, open vistas on her doorstep. They are full of light, even when set in the middle of a forest. She captures the essence of woodland particularly well using heightened colour which expresses the intense study she applies to the subject matter. 

 

Her female figures are drawn through a meditative practise and flow from her imagination. She explores line and silhouette within a limited palette to describe a female figure caught in movement, or a moment of stillness. Claire experiments with media, using ink, oil paint, pencil, charcoal, and decouper on wood, gesso, canvas or paper and frames them in bespoke floater frames.
